GOHABS.com Habs weekly wrap-up Sept 9, 2018

Here’s a weekly wrap of all things Habs.

  • Journal de Montreal’s Eric Evan Lemay writes about all the off-season administrative changes at the Montreal Canadiens front office and to a certain extent, Evenko, which is owner by le Groupe CH.  Gone are Donald Beauchamp (Communications) , Freed Steer (COO), Maryse Landry (HR).   Grand ménage chez le Canadien
  • At one point during the week it was all Max all the time.  Habs Captain Max Pacioretty is entering his final year of his contract.  There has been no contract offer from the Canadiens, nor discussions of offering him one.  Pacioretty has made it known that he will not discuss any contract extension once the season starts Oct 3.  TSN690’s Chris Nilan had Pacioretty on his Off The Cuff radio show where they discuss wide-ranging topics of whether Pacioretty ever asked to be traded in prior seasons, to whether Pacioretty would consider giving up the Captaincy if he re-signs with the team.  Listen here
  • Jonathan Drouin held his annual golf tournament Golf Tournament at Le Mirage in Terrebonne to raise money for the sick kids at  Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM).  The event on Thursday Sept 6 raised $301,775.  Last year Drouin pledged to raise $5 million for the cause over the next 10 years, with a personal commitment of $500,000.  Bravo Jonathan!
  • The Jonathan Drouin golf tournament provided yet another awkward moment between Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin and team captain Max Pacioretty.  It was only after the suggestion by team’s Director of Public Relations Paul Wilson, that Bergen went to shake the hand of Pacioretty at the event.  Awkward….
