MONTREAL - (Gazette) Maybe Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey should have taken another long walk through Old Montreal with Alex Kovalev before the Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Philadelphia Flyers. Or maybe head coach Guy Carbonneau simply shouldn't have tinkered with his No. 1 line from the regular season. Whatever the case, after a fantastic regular season for the Canadiens and Kovalev, the year ended in disappointment when they went down in five games to the Flyers.
